A (wo)man is allowed to dream…

By Alexa

Well, that’s how the saying goes, but for me it’s a miracle if I dream at all…

I know you’d probably tell me that I do dream, lots of people have told me that already, but you are wrong. I really don’t dream. Actually, last year (2010), I’ve dreamt only 7 times ๐Ÿ™

Now you probably want to know why I’m so certain I don’t dream…

I have periods of insomnia and periods that I sleep through the whole night. I know the latter are the ones that I’d most likely have dreams, but I don’t.

During periods of insomnia, I sleep about 4 1/2 hour a night, and mostly I wake up at least twice a night. Since one comes into the REM sleep (and thus dream) after about 1 hour, it’s logically I don’t dream during periods of insomnia.

During periods when I sleep through the night, I go to bed around 11pm and wake up around 8am, and I wake up sometimes and only once a night. Normally, people would dream here, but I don’t. An other thing REM sleep does is rest your body completely, but when I wake up after a full night’s sleep, I’m still physically tired.

But those few times I actually dream (real weird mostly), I am extremely rested the next morning.

…too bad, this year I haven’t dreamt yet, and I’m extremely tired right now. I’ve already been to bed today during the day, but since I can’t sleep during the day, I can only hope that I’ll be less tired after an hour (mostly I am, not today ๐Ÿ™)
